Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. You may optionally provide your gender, date of birth, and country. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from those services. App Content: We store the counters, goals, reminders, and resets you create to enable cloud sync across your devices. Device Information: We collect your device model, operating system version, app version, timezone, locale, and push notification tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver notifications and ensure compatibility. Usage & Diagnostics: We collect usage events (such as counter creation, goal completion, and login activity), crash reports, and performance data through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. This data is linked to your account to help us understand how our app is used and to fix issues. Log Data: When you use Countiful, our servers automatically record certain information including your IP address, user agent, device name, and activity timestamps.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to: provide and operate Countiful, including syncing counters across your devices; send push notifications and optional reminders you have configured; send transactional emails (verification, password reset) and occasional product updates or communications; analyze usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs; monitor app stability through crash and performance reporting; and log activity for security and fraud prevention. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not use your data for advertising. We will never monetize your data.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may process your data according to their own privacy policies: Analytics & Diagnostics: Google Analytics (Firebase) and Microsoft Clarity for usage analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring. Authentication: Google and Apple OAuth for social sign-in. Push Notifications: Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for delivering push notifications to your device. Email Delivery: Postmark, Resend, and Amazon SES for sending transactional and product emails. Hosting & Infrastructure: Vercel for web hosting and cloud infrastructure for our API. None of these services are used for advertising purposes.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Your counter data is stored securely on protected servers. We regularly review and update our security practices. While no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, we take every reasonable precaution to protect your information.

Data Retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Activity logs are retained for up to 365 days. If you delete your account, all your personal data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Device tokens are removed when you log out or delete your account.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data at any time. You can withdraw consent for data processing and object to certain uses of your data. You can opt out of analytics and crash reporting in the app settings. You can delete your account entirely from the app settings. You can use Countiful without an account if you prefer to keep your data entirely on your device.

Cookies & Analytics

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management on the web app. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use Countiful so we can improve it. These tools may collect device identifiers and usage data linked to your account. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings and toggle analytics in the app settings.

Children's Privacy

Countiful is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the effective date. Your continued use of Countiful after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
